Net capital losses to carry forward to 2016

My client has a net capital loss in 2015 that can be carried forward to 2016. Why is this carryforward not shown on the right-hand side display when I choose the option "Calculated carryforwards to 2016"?

This is a software issue that is fixed in version 19.20.

However, the 2015 tax returns that were completed using a prior version of the software must be recalculated with version 19.20 for the carryforward to be done correctly to 2016.

To identify clients having net capital losses in 2015 to carry forward, you may consider creating a filter by following these steps:

1. Go to the client list.
2. Click on the Tools menu > Filter the client list.
3. Select one of the spare filters to customize it and click on "Edit filter".
4. Give a name to the filter, e.g. "2015 net capital losses C/F".
5. In the section "Calculated tax data", enter the following code: %N81:64>0
6. Click OK, and then click the button "Apply filter".

Please note that the filter could take some time to run if you have a large database.

Once the client list is filtered, please recalculate all the clients on this list, by choosing the option "Batch calculations" from the Tools menu. Note that batch calculations could take some time to run. Once the calculation is completed, the carryfoward of net capital losses will appear in the right-hand side display within the keyword group Net-Cap-Loss .

To deactivate the filter and show the list of all your clients, select "Do not filter" from the drop-down menu "Filter".
